We are pleased to announce that photographs from The World In A Garden are featured in the upcoming book, Up We Grow! A Year in the Life of a Small Local Farm.  Published by Kids Can Press with text by Debbie Hodge and photographs from Brian Harris, this book will be released in August 2010. A portion of the photographer’s royalties will be donated to FarmFolk/CityFolk.

Here’s a short excerpt from the book – it highlights many of The World In A Garden’s values and practices such as the seed to table cycle:

“On a small farm not too far from the city, farmers are growing healthy, delicious food for you and me to eat. Crunchy carrots, sweet strawberries, juicy peaches! Mmm… What could be more delightful than eating fresh food, in season, from a small farm near you? Meet the farmers who carefully tend their crops and animals, while also caring for the health of their soil. Follow the our local BC famers through the seasons as they plow, plant, compost, mulch, harvest and market their fruits and vegetables. Watch their chickens and goats wander freely over the farmland. Learn how the farmers feed the soil and why bees are the farmer’s friends. Most importantly, find out how these farmers are caring for our future and helping us all to grow up strong and healthy!”
